Underpaid teachers in Indonesia live in concerning situation. The uncertainty of their job's status make underpaid teachers don't receive enough attention and appreciation.
Abu Umamah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The virtue of the scholar over the worshiper is like my virtue over the least of you. Verily, Allah, his angels, the inhabitants of the heavens and earth, even the ant in his hole and the fish, send blessings upon the one who teaches people what is good.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhī: 2685)
The hadith above tells us that everyone who teaches a human being, regardless their official position or status, has a noble role in Allah's eyes. Unfortunately, the reality in Indonesia shows how many teachers especially the underpaid ones don't get the appreciation they deserve.
In Indonesia there are 1,070,622 underpaid teachers who try their best to deliver their knowledge to the future generations while struggling with their life. Their uncertain official status make them receive little amount of paycheck that is enough. There are many stories about underpaid teachers who are being paid below pay grade or even aren't being paid for a long period of time. There is a true story about two teachers in Banten who are being paid with Rp300K per month (+- $25 USD) and receive the money every 3 month. Money is not everything for them but they deserve to be appreciated with a decent amount of pay.
Therefore, ACT Foundation would like to invite you to share some of your wealth to support underpaid teachers in Indonesia. Your donation will indirectly contribute to the future of education in the country.
With your support, ACT will give each teacher an extra Rp500K every month (+- $40 USD) . Even if your donation is below the amount, we will combine it with other donations so that every teacher will receive the same amount.
